If you're a fan of motorbike touring but not a fan of motorcycle boots with a long shaft, then we highly recommend the short Vanucci VTB3. It's lightweight and comfortable, both for riding your motorbike and for walking.
These boots are equipped with the SympaTex climate membrane, so they offer outstanding breathability. Your feet stay dry and warm - including in a heavy downpour. In fact, just about perfect touring boots.

Good to know:
Your breathable shoes are wind and waterproof. However, your boots are only breathable if you are wearing technical socks. Cotton socks absorb moisture, whereas technical socks draw sweat and moisture away from your foot, initially into the shoe. The breathable shoe membrane then transports the moisture completely out of the shoe. Breathability is thus ensured.

The membranes are manufactured from different base materials, depending on the brand, and are made either as a loose "liner", as a laminate (bonded to the outer material), or as a coating on a carrier material.
The SympaTex membrane is made of polyester, and transports water vapour molecules outwards by means of chemical reactions. Different materials are tailored to the various applications in the field of motorcycle clothing.
All climate membranes are sensitive to mechanical damage: if a membrane is pierced, clearly it can no longer provide protection. Damage can also result from the use of inappropriate washing agents. Softeners, including those contained in detergents, damage the membrane irreparably!
